Uncanny Neighbourhoods is a video manifesto created in relation to the project Green Green Grass of Home. The manifesto explores the trajectory from traditional mapmaking to Google Street View, and how they are a result of the fraught, colonial histories from which cartography has emerged. Through digital glitches, bodily interventions, and the distortion of its own 3D mesh, Google Street View is rendered unfamiliar. Revealing the hidden layers beneath empty architectural shells and blurred, faceless figures. Ultimately, grappling with cartography as a practice that attempts to replicate intimate, personal spaces, leaving us to navigate the tension between lived environment and digital replica.
